PDP debunks allegation to disrupt Ekiti APC rally
National Publicity Secretary, All Progressives Congress, Alhaji Lai Mohammed
A
chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ondo State, Mr. Soji
Bello, has described the accusation levelled him by the National
Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Alhaji Lai
Mohammed, that he heads a task force formed to molest APC members ahead
of its planned road show in Ekiti State as “a blatant lie.”
Mohammed had, in a media report on
Wednesday, accused Bello of heading a special task force designed to
attack the supporters of the APC in the state and cause mayhem in the
Hausa-dominated Sabo and Shasha areas of Akure, the state capital, ahead
of the APC rally.
Bello said he is not aware of the
existence of any such task force which the APC claimed he heads, adding
that the opposition party is only preparing the minds of the people
towards the failure of its planned road show like the flopped
one-million-man march held in Lagos recently.
The PDP chieftain in a statement on
Thursday said, “But for the state of confusion in the opposition, why
should Lai Mohammed allege that a task force is being put up in Ondo
State to disrupt a programme they are having in Ekiti State? Though I
understand that they must find an excuse for their impending doom in the
South-West, but how many of their supporters were attacked in Lagos
before their march in Lagos on Saturday?
“The truth of the matter is that the
opposition party does not exist in Ondo State in the first place, so
they don’t have any supporter to chase around. But for the APC’s
ignorance, they should have known that what is being insinuating cannot
happen in Ondo State.
“The records are there to show that
elections contested in Ondo State were without violence because the APC
thugs recruited for that purpose were not able to operate as a result of
the alertness of the security operatives in the state.”
